Having worked in the travel industry in Australia for 30 years and running my own agency, 14 years ago, I first traveled to Kerala, India, where I visited one of the Ayurvedic retreats. This experience completely changed my life. After two weeks on an anti-aging program, I received unexpected results, and since then, I began sharing Ayurveda with my friends and clients. This is how groups of people eager to experience the benefits of Ayurveda started to form.
You can’t promote this product just by reading beautiful websites or reviews. Only by personally visiting each Ayurvedic retreat can I truly understand what suits my clients. We are all different, as are the retreats, and what works for one person might not be suitable for another.
Over the years, I’ve visited more than 100 Ayurvedic retreats in India and Sri Lanka, but I can only recommend a few. My main criteria for selecting retreats include: the experience of the doctors and therapists, the quality of accommodation and food, the level of yoga instructors, the location, the surroundings, and, of course, the service. If any of these aspects don’t meet my expectations by 95%, I cannot recommend the retreat.
Poovar Ayurveda Retreat meets all of my requirements. Here, they have highly professional doctors with up to 40 years of experience, therapists and massage specialists with 15 years of practice, and guests stay in spacious cottages surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Ayurvedic dishes, and the retreat is located in a large park by the ocean, where you can take walks and practice yoga with a beautiful ocean view.
I particularly want to highlight the high level of service. The administration organizes various educational excursions, cultural evenings, and warm, festive farewell dinners for the guests. This is a place filled with warmth and positive energy, and many people call it a “paradise.”
For me, the greatest reward is seeing people from different parts of the world come together, leave with positive results from their Ayurvedic treatment, and express a desire to return.
